Maya Abdominal Therapy

Abdominal Therapy works by creating the optimal environment in your abdomen. Gentle external massage helps guide organs back into their proper position, and enhances the flow of lymph, blood, nerve, and Qi. Increased flow restores balance and alignment in the abdomen.

We also address the restrictions in the low back, sacrum and tailbone. Releasing this tension removes restrictions in the belly and pelvic bowl. 

When alignment and circulation are restricted it leads to discomfort and dysfunction. This treatment along with self care and taking a closer look at your daily habits will start the journey of healing.

What to expect

Initial Visit:

Up to 2 hours long, we will do an in-depth intake about your health, body, and daily habits. You will be taught YAM (Your Abdominal Massage) to do at home. You will leave with laminated YAM directions and a small bottle of oil.

During a session:

You will be undressed and draped like a normal massage. You will have a drape to cover your breasts while I am doing the abdominal massage. 

The Uterus sits just above the pubic bone so I will be working quit low on the abdomen. I will massage the entire abdomen and then rocking / jostling is used to help with flow of lymph, blood, nerves and Qi.

Sessions include work on the back, sacrum and around the tailbone. This supports circulation and proper alignment of the sacrum, Uterus, and Pelvis. Creating a well balance abdomen, anteriorly and posteriorly.

Self massage:

It is recommended to do this 10 minute YAM daily in-between visits. Daily massage improves and accelerates results, as well as helps you become more in tune with your body.

Supportive Modalities:

Castor oil packs, perineal steams, or belly wraps made be recommended. Or if you would like more information we can discuss them. You may always reach out with questions.

Follow up Sessions:

2-4 weeks in-between sessions. Plan on at least three of these 75-minute sessions for the best results, depending on your body and your goals.

This work is slow, intentional, and beautiful. Learning to become more in tune with your body is a sacred journey.
